Wanderlake

Wanderlake is a greater lake in The Lunar Reaches region of Ethereia.

It is named so for having a high affinity to specific “areas” in The Dreaming which change periodically in a cyclical manner, making it a popular location for those who wish to frequent the dreamscapes to which it binds regularly.

Wanderlake borders Dreametchers’ Glades and Thermosatch, with Thermosatch being the most populous settlement in the otherwise sparsely populated forests and woodlands in proximity to the lake.

Dreametchers’ Glades

This little collection of forest-dwellings along Wanderlake is best known for its artisanal woodcarvers. It is the first place one would usually go to acquire a Bluelight Lantern. The artisans of Dreametchers’ Glades are also renowned across some higher societies of Ethereia for a particular tradition of ornamental furniture, and are frequently visited by the ultra rich and some of the big names in “mori kei” interior design, trying to be the first to get their hands on the most exclusive items from the woodcarvers.

Apart from luxury woodworks, the Glades are host to a handful of trinket shops, selling various amulets and small decorative items crafted from antlers, feathers and dried or encased plants, tree fruits, and non-edible fungi.
They are also home to one rather notorious herbalist store.

Thermosatch

Small town by the western shores of Wanderlake, Thermosatch is a sleepy place with a small industrial area off in the southern outskirts mostly consisting of sawmills and carpentry shops along with a handful retail outlets for general building materials, two pottery shops, a greater botanical garden / “plant school”, and an insulation materials factory.

In the town center, an inn called Cartographer's Rest and the Thermosatch Farmers’ Market makes up the two most popular tourism destinations, with the latter being particularly known for its 3 special selections of mushrooms: one selection grown in caves deep in a part of the forest far west of the town, another foraged by farmers, foresters, and forest dwellers in the woods surrounding the town, and finally: a unique blend of mushrooms farmed on wood pulp by town residents with basement or backyard farms.
